‘Nelda’s Joy’ is a rare and highly distinctive early-blooming hybrid peony, recognized with an APS Seedling Certificate of Merit in 2011 and admired for both its landscape qualities and breeding potential. The bloom on young plants often present as semi-double progressing to a rich double, full flower. Subtle salmon tones at the petal bases add warmth to the coloration, while sturdy stems and compact foliage provide excellent garden structure. Vigorous, freely flowering, and fertile in both directions, this cultivar was named to honor Nelda Roth, grandmother of Hollingsworth Peonies’ production manager, Lucas Hudson.
